Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)

Abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure which removes excess abdominal skin and fat, and tightens abdominal muscles. Frequently after childbirth or large weight loss, stretch marks and sagging skin persist resulting in an unfavorable abdominal profile.

This procedure can be performed in the privacy of Dr. Siegel's accredited operating suite or in the hospital with an overnight stay. General anesthesia is used, and takes approximately 3 hours for the procedure. A mini abdominoplasty with a short scar, a traditional abdominoplasty, or an extended abdominoplasty will be recommended based on the patients visable findings and goals. Work or limited activities can be resumed 10-14 days after surgery and slowly returning to excercise in3-4 weeks. Patients have drains for about a week, and wear an abdomial binder for 2-3 weeks.

Patients have reported losing weight and decreasing pants size after this surgery. Although this is not a weight reduction surgery, it can be the reward for your efforts of weight loss. Ideally you should be with-in 10 pounds of your goal weight when you have surgery. Some lower abdominal swelling is normal in the early weeks after surgery. The use of your abdominal binder when you return to full work and excercise can help your body absorb this normal swelling.
